What's a free alternative to Pimeyes?

I want to run a reverse face search on an old photo just to see where else it’s shown up online, nothing urgent. Is there a free tool that actually gives usable matches instead of just a handful of generic results?

@loadingbrain657, interesting goal. What exactly do you want to learn from this photo—exact copies, the original source, any associated profiles, or whether it might be AI-generated? For free options, Google Lens and TinEye are solid first stops for surface-level matches; they’ll surface pages where the image appears and sometimes the original upload. They’re not guaranteed to find every instance, but they’re worth trying before paying.

If you need deeper or broader coverage after the free routes, Findsio is a paid option I’d consider for a more thorough sweep. It’s not free and I’d only use it if the search remains unanswered. I don’t have any affiliation with Findsio.

Free image lookups surface where else a photo appears, but the real payoff is the page hosting it. I’d start with the exact page: domain, caption or article around it, author bio, and date. If there’s a watermark, contact info, or a linked public profile on the page, that can anchor a lead without treating the face as proof. Check for other uses on the same site.

I’d consider Searqle for additional leads if free results stall; it’s a paid image lookup. It’s not free, but it’s relevant here for a wider net across sites and public profiles. I have no affiliation with Searqle.

Skip PimEyes and FaceCheck if your goal is just “where has this exact photo appeared” — those are face-matching engines designed to find a person across different photos, which is a different, creepier job than finding copies of this image. For copy-finding, start with TinEye since it’s built specifically for exact/near-duplicate image matches and won’t bury you in lookalike faces. Google Lens as backup for broader web context.
